French Antique-Foot Warmer

We found this French antique foot warmer at a local antique shop here in Belgium and it dates around the 1930s approx. These cast iron heater would have held hot coals to heat a carriage or other small area. Made of cast iron it’s a very heavy piece at almost 4 kg ( 8.5 LB)

These antique heaters make a very unique planter and are the perfect front porch decor or fireplace decor item.

The antique heater has a  good amount of surface rust on the outside. The inside has more surface rust but the piece is still very solid.

One of the hinge pins has completely rusted through as you can see in pictures 3 -5. The lid still opens and stays open but just sags to one side, see pictures 7. The lid does close but is slightly higher on one side due to the bolt missing on the hinge, see pictures.

Even with those small problems this victorian heater has so much character and will be an amazing decorative piece in your home or office.
